African Myrrh Incense Resin — Commiphora myrrha
Bark-free African myrrh resin for incense, aromatic blends, and creative projects. Myrrh is known for its warm, earthy, balsamic fragrance, with a distinctive bitter edge and gentle spice.
Whole myrrh resin for incense and blends
Enjoy Commiphora myrrha on its own, or use it in your own loose incense blends and aromatic extracts. Its deep resinous character pairs well with frankincense.
Myrrh is an oleo-gum-resin: a natural combination of gum, resin, and aromatic oils.
How to gently heat myrrh with charcoal
For gentle heating, we recommend Japanese incense charcoal in a heat-resistant incense bowl with white ash. Use a copper stand to support a mica plate above the charcoal, and place a small piece of myrrh on the plate.
Begin with more distance between the charcoal and mica plate, then adjust gradually to explore the fragrance without charring the resin. This indirect heating approach is inspired by Japanese incense appreciation and gives you control over the warmth reaching the myrrh.
Use in a well-ventilated area, keep the bowl on a heat-resistant surface, and never leave hot charcoal or heating incense unattended.
