Hawaiian Sandalwood Incense Powder — Santalum paniculatum

Sweet, smooth Hawaiian sandalwood powder from the Big Island of Hawaiʻi. This superfine Santalum paniculatum powder is perfectly suited for loose incense, personal incense blends, and making your own incense cones or sticks.

Fine sandalwood powder for incense making

Enjoy its fragrance on its own, combine it with other aromatic materials, or use it as a base in your own incense recipes. Its fine texture makes it easy to incorporate into blends.

How to gently heat sandalwood powder with charcoal

For gentle heating, we recommend Japanese incense charcoal in a heat-resistant incense bowl with white ash. Use a copper stand to support a mica plate above the charcoal, and place a small pinch of powder on the plate.

Begin with more distance between the charcoal and mica plate, then adjust gradually to explore the fragrance without charring the powder. This indirect heating approach is inspired by Japanese incense appreciation.

Alternatively, shape a small mound of powder into a cone on a suitable heat-resistant incense holder. Light the top, gently blow it out, and allow it to smolder.

Use in a well-ventilated area, keep the bowl or holder on a heat-resistant surface, and never leave hot charcoal or burning incense unattended.
