African Amber Bark Incense — Sarcocaulon mossamedense
Warm and sweet, with notes of brown sugar, butter, vanilla, amber, and marshmallow. This aromatic, resinous bark comes from a desert succulent native to Namibia.
Curved resinous bark from Namibia
The bark is gathered by Himba people after the plant dies naturally. Its curved pieces retain the shape and texture of the resinous outer layer.
How to gently heat African Amber Bark
Use gentle, indirect heat. Do not light the bark or burn it directly. Place a small piece on a mica plate above an incense charcoal, starting with a generous distance between the plate and charcoal. Adjust closer gradually to warm the bark without charring it. Can also be heated over a flame, gently, and trying to not let it catch on fire.
Use a heat-resistant bowl, provide ventilation, and never leave hot charcoal or heated incense unattended. See our Japanese incense charcoal, white ash, copper stand, and mica plate.
